Swimming is a skill sport that requires an individual to master very specific movements to swim effectively. Every day, the STR team of professionals evaluates swimmers’ technique and makes suggestions that will prevent injury (or further injury!) and improve performance. Over the years, STR has worked with thousands of swimmers at every ability level from beginners to Olympians. That extensive experience is the basis for this product.

Description

This book refutes the great deal of counterproductive and even harmful information about the conventional model for freestyle. In contrast, this book presents an optimal model.

Improving the arm entry has the benefit of reducing both the severity and duration of shoulder stress. An additional benefit is an improvement in the arm coordination (IdC).

While a conventional freestyle has a negative IdC, an optimal freestyle has a positive IdC. With a positive IdC, for a fraction of the stroke cycle both arms are generating propulsion – i.e., every stroke has overlaps in propulsion (Figure 18).

Conventional technique stresses the shoulder, wastes time, and has ineffective arm coordination. An optimal technique reduces shoulder stress, minimizes wasted time, and has an effective arm coordination.
