Swim Coaching Science: Freestyle Technique
$3.00
Description
This book refutes the great deal of counterproductive and even harmful information about the conventional model for freestyle. In contrast, this book presents an optimal model.
Improving the arm entry has the benefit of reducing both the severity and duration of shoulder stress. An additional benefit is an improvement in the arm coordination (IdC).
While a conventional freestyle has a negative IdC, an optimal freestyle has a positive IdC. With a positive IdC, for a fraction of the stroke cycle both arms are generating propulsion – i.e., every stroke has overlaps in propulsion (Figure 18).
Conventional technique stresses the shoulder, wastes time, and has ineffective arm coordination. An optimal technique reduces shoulder stress, minimizes wasted time, and has an effective arm coordination.
